While searching for recipes and checking through cookbook, we discovered a lack of basic cooking information and that most recipe books and web sites expect you to know something before you can attempt any of the recipes. We hope to remedy that by presenting the very basic information you need to get cooking. After you know the information presented in the following sections you should be able to read recipes and understand the basics needed to cook. You will be prepared for the more advanced information available elsewhere and ready to tackle that new recipe. The AWP Recipe Database is like any other recipe database and does assume a basic knowledge and understanding of cooking.
